Viktor Orbán in China

It is important for Hungarians that China advocates for peace in the world, stated Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Monday in Beijing, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Prime Minister recalled that Hungarians have been living in the shadow of war for two and a half years.

„The Hungarian people are peace-loving. They strive for peace, balance, and harmony, which is why ‘we are always on the side of peace and never on the side of war,'”

he said.

„For us, it is of great significance” that China advocates for peace in the world instead of war, he declared. „In the case of the conflict unfolding in Hungary’s neighborhood, we highly appreciate your peace initiative,” Viktor Orbán said, addressing Xi Jinping.

He recalled that the Chinese president visited Hungary two months ago. The Prime Minister called that meeting of historic significance. He added that they made significant agreements, but more importantly, they laid the foundation for the friendship between the two peoples for several generations, as Xi Jinping’s visit was convincing and cordial, demonstrating China’s goodwill and respect towards Hungary to the Hungarian people.

„Several generations will still benefit from that visit and its memory,” Viktor Orbán declared. He thanked the Chinese president for elevating the level of relations between the two countries. „In the past two months, we have been continuously working to fill this framework with content,” he said, thanking for the progress their delegations have achieved in cooperation.

Viktor Orbán congratulated Xi Jinping on China’s firmness and stability, which, „in this turbulent world politics,” means a lot to the entire world.
