Mi Hazánk files criminal complaint over August 20 procurement

Hungary’s Mi Hazánk Movement has filed a criminal complaint with the Central Chief Prosecution Office of Investigation over the procurement procedure for organizing the 2026 August 20 state celebrations.

The party is asking authorities to investigate possible bid-rigging, breach of fiduciary duty, abuse of office and trading in influence. According to the complaint, questions arise over whether the eventual winner may have received information about the event before the procurement procedure was officially launched.

Three companies were invited to submit bids, but only one valid offer was received, from HARDROCK Szolgáltató Kft., worth HUF 3.085 billion net. Mi Hazánk also asks investigators to examine the company’s financial and professional capacity, subcontracting arrangements and the circumstances under which the emergency procurement procedure was launched.

The complaint does not establish that a crime was committed. Mi Hazánk is asking prosecutors to obtain the full procurement documentation, electronic correspondence and relevant financial records in order to determine whether any criminal offence took place.
