Delegates from 20 countries attended the international congress held simultaneously at the MVM Dome and Groupama Arena. Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Bible education program, held from July 5-7, 2024, had 24,793 attendees, including 3,000 international guests from countries such as Finland, Japan, and the United States.
The three-day program focused on the uplifting good news of the Bible, centering on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
„This was my first time attending an international congress. I was amazed by the inspiring program and seeing my fellow believers from all over the world at this special event,”
said Nicholas Atiyeh, a delegate from the United States.
„In a world filled with bad news, it was truly refreshing to hear good news and see touching videos presented. It was wonderful to experience various expressions of love at this beautiful international event.”
On Saturday, 221 people were ceremonially baptized. The entire program was available in English and sign language. In the room reserved for deaf individuals, 233 people followed the interpretation.
The organizers aim for international delegates to learn about Hungary’s history, natural beauty, landmarks, and gastronomy before and after the congress. Therefore, the congress and the surrounding events bring significant business to hotels, restaurants, and other tourism providers, as delegates typically spend 8-10 days in the country.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are one of the largest congress-organizing nonprofit organizations in the world. In 2024, besides Budapest, 13 other cities worldwide will host similar-sized international congresses. In Europe, Prague, Zurich, Helsinki, Lyon, and Sofia will also be venues for these events, funded by voluntary donations.
