Dinosaur Exhibition at the Biodome in Budapest

A new exhibition at the Biodome of the Capital Zoo and Botanical Garden showcases the Age of Dinosaurs. It will be open from mid-February to the end of March.

The „Prehistoric Route 16” exhibition is open from February 14 to March 30, 2025. It can be visited from Sunday to Thursday between 10 AM and 7 PM, and on Fridays, Saturdays, and the final day of the exhibition from 10 AM to 8 PM, except on Thursday, February 27, when the exhibition will be closed. We recommend that all visitors start their tour at least one hour before closing time to allow enough time to explore the exhibition. On-site ticket sales will also be suspended one hour before closing each evening, meaning that tickets will no longer be available at the venue on the given day after this time.

The location of „Prehistoric Route 16” is the Biodome of the Zoo, whose entrance is different from the usual zoo entrances. It is located near the end of Állatkerti körút towards Hermina út, at Állatkerti körút 16. Tickets can be purchased online through the Zoo’s ticketing platform as well as on-site.

On-site ticket purchases will be possible from February 14 to March 30, 2025, from 10 AM until one hour before closing, except on February 27, when on-site ticket sales will also be suspended.

The Biodome, where the exhibition is held, is most conveniently accessible by public transport: via trolleybus 72, metro line M1 (Millennium Underground), or tram line 1. If taking trolleybus 72 towards Zugló railway station (Hermina út), the nearest stop is Kós Károly sétány. In the direction of Orczy tér, the closest stops are Bethesda utca or Széchenyi fürdő (the entrance is approximately halfway between these stops). Those traveling by metro line M1 (Millennium Underground) should get off at Széchenyi fürdő station, while tram line 1 passengers should alight at Kacsóh Pongrác út stop. From there, a pedestrian underpass leads to the corner of Kacsóh Pongrác út and Állatkerti körút, with the Biodome entrance just a few meters away. Further information about public transportation is available on the website of the Budapest Transport Center (BKK).

For visitors arriving by car, we recommend using the „Parkoló Zoona” parking lot to the right of the Biodome entrance or the surrounding street parking spaces (paid parking zone!). More details on parking can be found here.

Visitor Capacity Limit

The main dome of the Biodome, which houses the „Prehistoric Route 16” exhibition, can accommodate a maximum of 900 visitors at a time. This is a considerable capacity, but if the number of visitors reaches this limit, additional entry will only be possible as guests leave the venue. Those who have purchased their tickets in advance will be given priority at the entrance.

The full program is available here.
