Due to a Sunday evening accident, Keleti Railway Station will not be sending or receiving trains for an indefinite period. Trains will arrive at and depart from other stations in Budapest, according to a Monday morning announcement by MÁV Information (Mávinform) to MTI.
According to the announcement, passengers should expect longer travel times. Technical recovery efforts are still ongoing at the site of the accident. Specialists are continuously working on lifting the derailed cars back onto the tracks to resume traffic as soon as possible.
The announcement also states that railway tickets are valid on the entire M2 and M4 metro lines, the H8 suburban railway line, as well as on trams 23 and 24 between Keleti Railway Station and Orczy Square, trams 37 and 37A between Magdolna Street and Kőbánya Upper Railway Station, and buses 97E, 161, 161E, 168E, and 169E from Örs vezér tere to Rákos Railway Station (with stops at Rákos for buses 97E and 169E).
Replacement buses are running between Keleti Railway Station (Kerepesi Road bus terminal) – Kőbánya Upper (Albertirsai Road) – Rákos Railway Station. The buses are departing continuously.
